Gerald S. I let the wife try the smaller duster in the house and I don't think I will be getting it back. The dust that would normally leave streaks if caught in a light sprinkle is gone and the shine is back. May have to buy another one. Recieved the California duster kit from Amazon and tried it out right away. It works perfectly. She loves how it works dusting the furniture.
Heavy handle helps me to apply just enough pressure to remove dust fast and effectively, but I can see how this can be a matter of personal preference. I am very happy with the final result. I didn't have a chance to utilize a small brush, so I cannot comment on it. The fibers are soft, so they don't damage your car, and the size of this brush is just right for an average sedan.
Also, I don't know how important is to follow instructions (let it air for several hours and then not wash it after each use), but I am following these recommendations. Somebody wrote that the handle is too bulky and heavy, but I actually like it. It takes me approximately 5 minutes to remove all dust from our black car. If you live in a state where your main enemy is dust, then you will appreciate this product. It is not a wonder brush by any means, sometimes you will have to swipe the same area several times, but it does what it is supposed to do at the end.
I believe there is a cheaper version of the same brush which has a plastic handle.
As to using it. After that, make sure you keep it in its cover or it will slowly drain wax wherever you keep it. way better than your typical duster. In the box you will get large exterior duster that is about 2 feet long, and a small interior duster that is about 8 inches long. Keep in mind that the dusters are coated with a wet, waxy stuff, and should be aired for at least 48 hours before you use/store it. man this thing gabs dust and leaves a perfect shiny view after.
I bought these to use with my black car, which just seems to collect (and show) dust even a day after a car wash. The smaller duster is great. First, the wooden handle looks nice but it is somewhat heavy for a "duster" and can thus be a little unwieldy to use. On my particular duster the red mop head would at times fall off the wooden handle, which was annoying. It is large enough that I can quickly wipe over my entire car in less than a minute. Its tiny, made of a light plastic and perfect for a quick dust off of the car interior.
I would have strongly preferred a lighter plastic handle. It is not effective for anything that is slightly more "stuck on" (e.g., rain spots). But after buying these and using them for the past couple of months, I have to agree with the other positive reviewers here that they work very well. Now when wiping, you should do it lightly to not scratch your car with any dirt debris that is trapped in the brush.
Both dusters can obviously be used at home as well, though I haven't done that and as I've mentioned before, the larger duster can be heavy to use for an extended period of time in the house - you may be better off buying a different one for that purpose. I use it constantly and I can quickly dust off my seats and dash in seconds. Also, as others have mentioned, the first couple times you use it, you may actually get some paraffin wax streaks but this definitely gets better over time. At first, I was skeptical about these car dusters.
The large duster is the perfect cleaning tool to get rid of that light layer of pollen or dust between washes. A few potential negatives to consider for the large duster. Also, it's hard to clean the dirt off the duster because by doing so, you can strip the wax from the mop head which reduces its effectiveness. Obviously as a duster it doesn't pick up larger debris or crumbs or whatever, but still a great thing to have around.
First off, buying in this kit is a better value than buying each separately. I keep them in my trunk all the time. I rinse with a little bit of cold water and just let it stay a little "dirty." Finally, the duster only lifts light surface dust.
I have one for every car I own and I also have the little mini dash duster. The California Car Duster works great. Its a product that lives up to its reputation.
